Why do some frames have only one pin and some have two? I have a blued large frame with one pin and a large frame stainless with two. Can a one pin shroud be drilled to fit a two pin frame? Can a two pin shroud be used on a one pin frame? Thanks

Yes.
There is an old thread here somewhere discussing the two pin thing. It's a little fuzzy, but if I recall, the two pins were mainly used on the 41 & 741 models. Some of these other guys will recall better than I, I'm sure.

I will try to find the old thread. Interesting that the use of two pins would be so caliber specific. My 741 does indeed have two pins my other large frame, 45 Colt, has one. I had a 744 years ago but can't remember 1 or 2 pins. At one time I thought about finding a 4" barrel for the 45 and use the 4" shroud from the 741, but the 741 shroud will not quite slide completely on to the bottom pin due to the alignment. Still looking for a complete 4" VH. Thanks again for the info.

Found the two pins mentioned in a couple of old treads. Looks like its a 41 mag Monson thing. Wish a generc, fits all, large frame shroud were possible.
