Just acquired a 2018 DW 715 and am replacing the front sight. After loosening/removing the allen screw, do I also need to remove the pin? Forum dialogue is not clear on this point. And, if so, what type tool is designed for this purpose?

No, the notch at the rear of the front sight catches on the pin .. think of that as a pivot point. goodluck
