OfflineThey are close, but not the same. In my experiences, H-4227 gave higher velocities than the IMR version, but it was usually a half to one grain less than IMR-4227 for the same bullet weights. That was with 180-200 grain bullets.
I have heard rumors, but can't confirm, that new IMR-4227 made in Australia is exactly the same as H-4227, whereas IMR-4227 made elsewhere IS IMR-4227.
In my guns, IMR-4227 seems like it was made for the .357 SuperMag. It works fantastic with the 180-200 grain Silhouette bullets. In the .375 SuperMag, H-4227 is THE powder with the Hornady 220 grain FP. I haven't worked with these powders in the larger 2 SuperMags.

OfflineI have loaded H4227 for years in 357 supermag and loved it. I have tried IMR4227 and the performance just doesn't match up. to get similar loads between the powders, I have found that I generally put slightly more IMR into each load. As always, start with reduced loads & work up to the performance level you want.
Didn't they stop production of H4227 a couple years ago????

I've used imr 4227 on the 357sm th3 375sm and the 44mag. Have had good results in all. Would not recommend to inner change any load data without working up to desired load. even though reloaders suggust you can IT'S your touschie on the line.
