Yesterday, I bought a nice looking .357 pistol pack, Serial no. B00129x. Of the first six I fired double action, three didn't go off. I tried them single action, and two more fired. Here's a picture of those two. Notice the two different firing pin strikes. Is this normal, or indicative of timing being off?

I can't speak for your particular issue, but those don't look like light primer strikes to me unless the picture angle is making them look deeper than they really are. Just off the top of my head I would suggest the ammunition is the problem.

They're the same primers I've used for hundreds of rounds in a S&W model 36 and 469 without a miss. CCI. <shrug>

Back off the grip screw one turn or so. If that fixes it and the grip is loose, get a washer or shave some from the screw.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
