Offlinenot familiaqr with the DW terms so help me if you can.
the cylider does not lock up as the bolt does not come up and engage the notches in the cylinder. Upon insection the bolt was crudely fitted, so I got a new one and installed it and it did not fix the problem. the nose of the trigger shows some engagement with the part, but it seems like possibly the spring that presses on the back of the bolt is not making the bolt come up into position

Welcome to the family. Zippers.. I like that. I had a feed problem with a 1907 vintage 1892 last year and I was to that place where zippers would have been appreciated. For a temporary fix clean out the spring and area especially the pivot points of the bolt. Stretch that little spring offender to another 1/3 size. That should give it enough temporary tention to function correctly. It will eventualy compress back to undersize but it will be usable till a new one can be located. That is my normal solution with coil springs.
