OfflineCame across an 8 inch Model 14 at Tulsa. While I realize the barrels are interchangeable I had never before seen anything other than a 2/4/6 barrel on a 14 before. Barrel is a standard shroud, vent rib type.
The front sight looks to be proper for the lower rear sight height of the 14.
Is this anything unusual?
Was that a model 14 porkchop or a 14-2. If it was a porkchop it was a 15-2 8" shroud with an EWK adapter. If it was a 14-2 it had a 15-2 Vent shroud. They will work the same as the non vented 14-2 shroud but will not shoot to point of aim. The 15-2 front sight is taller and the gun will shoot low unless it has an EWK substitute front sight.
Porkchops were only 2/4/6" , but the dash 2 model 14-2 had an 8" option. Of course, the 10,12 and 15" 15-2 BAs would screw in but they would need to be scoped to shoot to point of aim.
I am sure that is as clear as mud.
