Yeah, 1966.

I decided a want a "Birth Year" gun.

I am bidding on two Pythons.   What other quality pistol makes, models should I be looking at for that era?

I have a 68 custom 1911 coming next week just one year to new for my birth year. It was from a builder that I wanted for my collection so the year wasn't a buying factor, but if it was a year older it would be grail type for me.

Well you’re close to my birth year too!!  I’ve never thought to buy a firearm manufactured the same year as my birth.  Hmmmm gotta give this some thought.

Yes. Both.   If it's well used I will shoot it well.   It's it's unfired, my wife suggests I frame it with my "Baby Pic" next to it.   I love my wife!

A second generation Colt Single Action Army would be nice, or a Detective Special. I picked up a 1968 Detective Special in a trade a few years ago and it's the best shooting snub nose I've ever fired. Plus, I love the classic "film noir" look of that era of Detective Special.

I've been kinda looking for a birth year gun too, for the last year or so. Not a full-time hunt, I just check it out from time to time. I have one on the radar now, that may/may not pan out. If I land it, I'll post it in this thread. smile

I love those detective specials! That's a beauty! I wonder what a good gun would be for 1961 So is the point to find a gun that was first made on your birth date or one that you know came available in that year?

I don't believe he means either of those. I think he's just looking for an iconic handgun produced that year.
