OfflineAbsolutely love this post; thanks for sharing. The catastrophic failure looks pretty normal to me. The ruptured cylinder becomes a virtual grenade which peels the top strap either fore or aft, and sometimes gone altogether. It only takes one overcharged cartridge to rupture the cylinder. Someone else will have to explain how the other cartridges in the cylinder are ignited as a result of this. I happened to notice that the owner did his own gunsmithing regarding the trigger over travel stop. The original adjustment screw (in the trigger in those days) is missing, and he’s added something to the trigger guard to facilitate a homemade stop. Interesting.

OfflineI wonder how often factory loaded ammo would have a supercharged round in one of them? The guy is lucky he didn't lose any fingers, or facial features!
So from the letter, it looks like High Standard replaced his gun with a DW.
