Hello, my name is David and an older friend is moving and decided to pass on what I thought was a Colt anaconda, then I saw on the side it was manufactured by Dan Wesson Arms... I'm quite confused and I home someone could shed some light on what I actually have, as well as the parts I need to get this beautiful piece up and running again, to me it looks like I need a grip, Hammer, rear sight, and some internals.. on one side it says
DAN WESSON ARMS
MONSON, MASS U.S.A
445 S001529
Then the barrel says
COLT ANACONDA
45 COLT

Welcome David!
Actually, in this case, you are asking for speculation.
Starting with the Dan Wesson .445 frame: An unmodified .445 SuperMag cylinder is a 44 caliber that chambers a cartridge that is 7mm(?) longer than the 44 magnum cartridge. Unmodified, it can and will safely fire 44 Special, 44 Magnum, and 445 Super Mag.
Most all Dan Wesson revolvers have interchangeable barrel system in length. Always the same caliber.
Parts can be found through DWF Members, ebay, and other sites.
It sound like yours is a heavily modified firearm. I would not attempt to fire it until it has been checked-out by a reputable gunsmith.
Pics really do help.
