OfflineIn the late 90s I found a big, black .357 for the ridiculously low price of $175 at Warshal's (boy, I miss that place) in downtown Seattle. After talking with the clerk about this mysterious "Dan Wesson" firearm for a bit, I picked it up. After I got a broken rear sight sorted out, it was a remarkably accurate gun: shot like a laser beam. It even came with a real "Dirty Harry"-style holster! A couple of years later my fancy was caught by something else and I traded it in on another gun, and have been regretting it ever since.
A couple of years ago I got back into shooting after a long absence, and in checking out the local stores near me I found a DW .22 with a 6" barrel in a local pawn shop. Since I was searching for my first gun in a few years and I wanted my purchase to double as a carry and HD gun I passed on the DW but it's remained in the back of my mind since then. It's still been there both times I stopped in to check the inventory, so finally today I gave it a close look: good barrel, nice and tight all around, gorgeous bluing…as I gave it back to the clerk and said thanks she said the magic words: "You know, we do have layaway." So now I'm back in the club, or will be whenever I pick the DW up. I already have a thing for Smith & Wesson 3rd Gen guns, looks like I'll be taking up the cause of another fine line of discontinued firearms, because I'm going to need a DW .357 now (probably a full pistol pac)!
