OfflineI've owned and collected several different types of handguns with the most recent being Rugers.[Image Can Not Be Found]
Several years back I owned a 15 and 15-2 and they were the most accurate, “out of the box” handguns I've ever shot so I decided to reassemble a DW collection. I recently picked up a well used Monson 714, 2 1/2″ that I just might polish. I have stainless polishing down to a science but not the disassembly of DW's. I'll probably be asking questions along the way but not anytime soon since we're about to settle on a new house. Anyway, it's cool to belong to one more forum.

OfflineWelcome to DWF, you already have a great collection there, the DW's will just make it better. I'm getting ready to start a high polish 15-2 V4, please share your thoughts, technigues, etc.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I use a series of grit papers up to 2000 grit to get all the imperfections out. A flap wheel can save some time on the rough stuff but you have to be careful. There is a company near home called Supergrit http://www.supergrit.com/ that has all the necessary supplies and some of the best inventory I've seen yet. I have a high speed, bench mounted buffer and use two different rouges. Gray which is a little abrasive to get the shine started and then green to finish it off.[Image Can Not Be Found]
Here is a Security Six that I polished and a 10″ Super Blackhawk[Image Can Not Be Found] with the warning removed from the barrel. Slow and easy is the answer. I start with 400 grit and work my way to 1500 and 2000. The paper is to remove the mill marks but the rouge alone will polish the metal but it won't look like chrome without removing the mill/grind marks. A MKII that went under the whel too.[Image Can Not Be Found]

OfflineWow, nice Ruger stash!
There's a few in there that I'd sure like to round up one day…including an Old Army smoke pole.
I'm up to 3 Rugers now, with many more on the want list.
If you'd to show off more of those, we've got a Ruger thread going…

*EDIT* Man, I'm a slow typer today...plus I forgot to say again
Those are some super shiny stainless polish jobs there, I'm impressed!

OfflineWow, that is a nice collection of Rugers! The polishing looks excellent too!
to our forum...soon your Dan Wesson collection will look like that, if your anything like these guys with their obsessions.
I, on the other hand, don't have the affliction like they do
At least, I keep telling myself that.

Welcome Flash! I’m a PA member also. Are you anywhere near Allentown / Philly? That’s a nice rug collection you posted on the other thread.
southern York county………near Gettysburg
I think us PA guys may have the majority here on the forum ( I can say that -- born and raised in Erie, PA!) Maybe we need one of those maps that show where everybody lives.

IHMSA has a much more disturbing affliction-GAS (Gun Aquisition Syndrome), not limited to Dan Wessons, but pretty much anything that will expel a projectile

Shoot, that’s a good idea..the map thing. I wonder if Jody or someone else has state info on members? Might be infringing on privacy issues though.
I'll have to find the link, but there is one out there a lot of the forums use. My bike club uses it. Members enter their own "Pin" on the map and any other info they want.

OfflineWe kind of kicked that idea around once, and never really found a good map plug-in for WordPress. I'm sure Jody will check that one out once he gets back from Vacation
