OfflineOK Guys, as some of you may recall, there were a few really ugly caps appeared on ebay sometime ago, and a suggestion was made that whoever won them had to submit photos.
Since Steve has agreed to his Sonnet "Ode to the Autoloader", and since I suggested the cap winners send in their photos, I can't very well back out on the idea - however ugly the cap may be.
So here it is:

And just for the record, if there was ever an ugly cap that was hotly competed over e-bay, this one and the one before it are the one's.
And at the end of it all, as I wear it, I ask the age old DW question WHY?
So where are the other winners????

OfflineWell done sir, you make that hat look good! Honestly, it looks much better in your pic than it did in those auction pics.

I was all set to grab two of them & was online waiting for the time to wind down...when I got sidetracked doing something else & didn't clue into what had happened until after the auctions ended! I'm still pissed at myself for that one.

Ode to the Autoloader will happen, I promise. My son tells me that it is a tradition in the US Coast Guard that the New Years Eve watchstander does the New Year's log entry in verse. I will stand the DWF New Year's Eve Watch, and ring in the New Year in 1911 Style
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OfflineCompetition was fierce - prices became ridiculous. A whole lot of folks were waiting to snipe in at the last minute - had all the hallmarks of DWF bidding I suspect - and I bet htere's a winner or two out there right now lying low.
Sadly, my wife would not allow me to wear it to bed, nor out to the supermarket with her yesterday.
I'm not sure that she like's it.

OfflineLooks good John! I had that exact same hat from the original days, back in the mid 1980's. I proudly wore it to every silhouette match, while mowing the lawn, and many other outings. The hat band finally wore out last summer. It was a sad day indeed.

Many folks wanted to buy that hat from me, but it was never for sale. I need a replacement.

Don't Americans wear their DW caps to bed?
