I thought this was interesting, so here I go.... I pulled the Pachmayr grips off the 357SM today so I could install a nice set of Wood Hogues. I wasn't really paying attention, but I noticed the Hogues took a little effort to slide on. I pulled them back off and noticed the sideplate screw was way too long. Of course since I'm a certified Dremel Master I rectified the problem 
. Hard to believe it left the factory like this. Anybody else have a SM with a long screw?

Interesting. The pic is a little close up for me to tell what part of the SM we are looking at but a large/SM frame doesn't have a side plate. Do you mean the hammer retention screw, or am I forgetting something, as I don't have a Dan handy to look at.

Sorry-- no sideplate . The screw that is under the grip.

I thought that was the one. I believe the only purpose for that screw is to hold the hammer spring back for dis-assembly IIRC. I do have a pin that sticks up a little high on my 7445 which makes fitting a grip a little tough.
Except I usually work on the grip and not the gun with my dremel. I probably could use some lessons from the Dremel Master, I used to laugh at Dremel tools, now I use one all the time.

Nope, neither of mine have that problem...darn, a chance missed to play with my dremel.
