"My thoughts would b the knurling may be intended (if the tolerances are true) to help prevent the bbl. from turning when tightening the bbl. nut so the cyl.gap is easier achieve.
So was my guess right or wrong ?

Looks like CF has the original Fixed barrel.
So does Dusty, but he's off self-medicating his
problem.
Thanks for the scan & the info, this is very interesting. Soooo...I wonder what a flush nut Porkchop FB looks like? I don't recall seeing one so far, or if there was one that flew in under my 'online auction' radar, it didn't mention, nor show it.
There's still at least 6 'Chop varities I have on my needs list, and you just added another one.
BTW, look at that...a nickel 15 was only $10 more than a bright blue back then.

Well here's an easy one to answer
.... Part 3 of the trivia series...
Are all 44 shrouds ported?
SHOOT
I'll bite.
It seems that almost all .44 pistol packs had a ported shroud and both a ported and a non-ported barrel. But I am going to say that not all .44 were ported.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
