For some reason, not quite clear to me, I have yet to pull the trigger on a SS Dan. Almost did once this past year and it was mainly a price attraction.
Well, yesterday I was at my Daughters crib and her Husband hands me a new Guns and Ammo mag.
On the cover and main story I guess is Revolvers. At least that's what I remember as I type this.
What clarified my ambivalence towards SS was the pictures included. The authors personal firearms were laid out and they were Smiffs of the "old school blue/black and Nickel" and all the new models of revolvers in the article were SS.
That was when the fog lifted. Being of a contrarian nature, I am drawn to the old style finishes. Now I now why.
But if a deal that I can't refuse should arise concerning a SS Dan, I'm on like white on rice.
Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.
Need little, want less, love more.

I am also one of the few who prefers blued revolvers over stainless. Last fall I consolidated my Dan collection and actually sold all the stainless ones I had.
Now my 1911 is a stainless Pointman 7 Which I think is beautiful. I cant explain why I like what I do, just the way it is!
"The lion and the tiger may be more powerful, but the Wolf does not perform in the circus"
Dan Wesson , when alive refused to make stainless guns. He was a metallurgy expert. For what it's worth, I have been buying bonsai pruners for 37 years. These are finely crafted Japanese steel tools. I ceased buying stainless many years ago. The are much more brittle and prone too breaking. Granted, the stresses are different but I think blued steel IS stronger. Maybe not a problem for most guns but Dans, especially the large calibers, push the envelope because of their IHMSA heritage. I still like stainless dans though and will collect them.

I don't discriminate on color, either but I do prefer the rich deep blue color finish over the stainless. I think it goes perfectly with a zebra wood grip. I like using my stainless ones better for shooting though. I don't feel as paranoid about damaging the finish when taking them out to the range. I like shooting them all, but I want to keep them nice looking too!

I don't discriminate based on origin either . I've got some of each. Now if money were no option, I'd like to have one of EVERYTHING from EVERY plant, but as they say, that ain't gonna happen.
