OfflineAfter working on cars and such for over 30 years, I just had a first.
Road testing a 97 F150 for poor brakes, was thinking it felt like brake booster was weak.
I mashed them fairly hard[knowing lines were changed] and to the FLOOR it went. ZERO brakes !!
My driveway is about a 15 deg. hill DOWN, had to put in reverse in yard and gas it to stop.
[park brakes rarely work in Ohio on old stuff] But the booster split in half !! Never seen that before

I would say that may be an understatement.
Glad you were able to reel it back in and this didn't happen in traffic!

Yeah, if that happened in traffic, you may not be posting right now. Yikes!![]()
Thanks guys, I WAS on the road about a mile and a 4 way stop from home !! Did a U'ee in a side street and kinda cut an suv off and had to hit reverse to make turn, drove back in low gear and no one was at stop sign, thankfully
Here's a pic out of truck, another victim of the "RUST BELT". Usually when you lose brakes, you still have something. Not this failure !!
A few brewskies and a trip to the range last night helped [not in that order
