This Dan Wesson 715 Target (I believe based on the forums) is unusual as far as I can see with the gold trigger, hammer, and extractor rod.  Happy to say this was saved from destruction by an enthusiastic evidence officer at a local police department.  Now it's in my inventory for a bit before going to its new owner.. just thought maybe you guys would find the options interesting.  It appears to be highly polished stainless and no gold series markings.  You guys helped me learn a bit about Dan Wesson stuff just satisfying my curiosity about it.  So thank you.

Just a 15-2; not stainless.  Someone probably added the gold accents for looks....

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

What Ron said, except it is a blue gun. If it looks stainless it is either aftermarket hard chromed or 🤔😳🙄 white metal. Bluing removed. It appears Blued but since you think it is stainless than it must be  hard chrome. If it was white metal it would be a rust bucket. IT IS DEFINATELY NOT STAINLESS. Hard chrome is very durible but if the gun had any scratches before being chromed it will have the scratches forever. Stainless are a brushed finish and most cosmetic issues can be removed with Scotch Brite pads of the right color.

It appears blue in the photos....how are you figuring it's stainless?  It's possible to blacken stainless but this is clearly blued, carbon steel.  The gold appears to be TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating, commonly used on cutting tools and some guns and components, but it could be anything.  I am curious to know, how was the transfer done to you?

The Gold Series gun is basically a high-polish, Blue 15-2 or 715 with some additional marking with gold inlay and a slotted barrel shroud.  Here are a couple examples, one blue gun with a gold trigger, the other is not.  A cosmetically enhanced version of the standard production gun.  They don't show up often.

Someone's personalization.   The Gold Series and the Commemoratives were either plated or anodized.   Those appear coated.

Thanks rwsem...  it's definitely chromed then, so I thought maybe somebody could've polished stainless gun as I've come across polished Smith & Wesson's before that look like chrome.

Ole Dog thank you, I just guessed at polished stainless as I said to Ron I've come across stainless FBI semi-autos polished smooth that looked like chome.  This is definitely not blued anymore, so maybe as you said somebody chromed it.  I'll attach two more photos in better lighting but it's hard to capture the shine without glaring.

DakotaJack thank you.  I know it has a bluish tinge in the images there so I took two more trying to capture the appearance better.  Inside the trigger guard the metal looks dull and almost satin finished, so I thought maybe stainless then polished.  But Ole Dog suggested chromed and that may be.  Appreciate all the gold plated images.  Long story short, owner can't have it anymore, so PD let him sell it rather than destroy it.

Scout728 appreciate the feedback.  I figured it's not gold series but couldn't make sense of the high shine and gold plated parts.

I am trying to take pictures that better justify the appearance but I can't go straight on or it's in shadow.   I'll drop it in the "help me identify" forum ...  sorry, thought it was a 715!

Natural lighting on a cloudy day normally lends itself to good pictures.

Snagged a couple as the sun is going down here under a roof to avoid direct sunlight.  I'll post then in the "what model do I have" thread.  Thanks Scout!
