I am a gun enthusiast, a retired Police Officer, and currently work part time in the gun section of my local police department (I get paid to play with the guns they bring in each week). I have not seen a Dan Wesson revolver until recently and am curious about the history of the brand. I assume it is an offshoot of Smith & Wesson Revolvers - I definitely have more research to do. Recently we recovered A Dan Wesson Revolver with no Model Number stamped on it. Doubtful it has the original handgrips on it. If anyone could help me out and identify this model I would appreciate it. - THANKS!

OfflineWelcome. Yea that thru me for a loop early on they did make the notched shrouds that look like a fixed barrel from Monson. Every time I see one for sale I think it's a fixed but if it's a Monson it's not as Monson never made the fixed barrel. They were just a 2.5 V barrel as the VH barrels lug goes all the way to the end of the barrel.

Offlineyour question on the grips is correct. it looks to be hogue foe the small frame with the square hole to mount. to clear up any future questions there are actually four frame sizes. the lil dan , the small frame that fits the 22, 38 ,32, and 357s, then there is the large frame that fits the 41 mag ,44mag, and the 45 colt and the 7460. last but not least there is the super mag frame which takes in the 357 super mag, the 375 sm, the 414sm, and the 445sm. FYI ime sure ive missed some info but i'm sure experts will correct this.
