OfflineWell, the pops (Steve CT) and I picked up a .445 SuperMag today. We found it for a steal. Unfired, AGS, and it looks like it's the first one made. Had both wrenches in thier original envelopes, with an owners manual and some ammo/brass info inside the original box.

OfflineFreerider and Steve, that is one awesome fine! I'm assuming that this is a Palmer gun since the shroud is marked "Dan Wesson" instead of Alaskan Guide Special. I think the one you guys got looks better than the AGS!
I would have a hard time firing that one as well!
I need some more photos of this one for my project!!!!!
Congrats Guys!

The Pic show Palmer above the serial number.
That is a nice find, wish I could find one like that. I've still got my eyes open for a Super Mag.

mox-Newington Gun Exchange, and I've bought more DW's there than everywhere else combined. It had been there for about a week and a half, and I almost missed it in the case until I saw the gold script. I had actually looked it over and was handing it back (and put a message here about it) when I caught the s/n. When I showed it to my wingman, he put the Model 70 in 375 Win Mag back in the rack and scrambled for his wallet, with that same look he used to get in his eye as a kid on Xmas Morning.
Jody- we're planning a photo day for next week sometime
Everybody-He was raised in a "No Safe Queens" home. It's getting shot!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OfflineWell, "Thumper" is no longer unfired!
It'll wake you up in the morning, thats for sure. Everyone at the range was alternating between evil glances our way, and smiles and giggles every time we fired. The RSO had a puzzled look on his face the entire time.
I can't complain about accuracy at all. It's fairly light, especially for a big honkin round. There was someone taking pictures "trying to get the flame in the frame"
So what's everyone favorite load? I had between 26 and 29 grains of W296 with 300gr XTP's on top. I think 28.5 will work out to be the best of the bunch. 27 was downright pleasant to shoot. 29 was a little much (was a bit sticky ejecting)
Oh yeah.....I broke a rock that was sitting on the berm. It wasn't a small rock either. And the halves were about 2 feet apart.

OfflinePictures? You want pictures?
"Breakin' rocks in the hot sun, I shot the Gun and the Gun won!"
Actually, HE shot the gun, but work with me a little on the play on words on the old Sonny Curtis song.
What a lot of fun this was, the whole day was, but this gun dominated interest on our end of the range. People kept coming over to look, and of course, we were botn in our DWF colors. Guys walking by kept saying "Oh yeah, Dan Wesson".
Calendar Photo?

. Way to go. We need more of those 000001 serial numbers around here.

My wallet would have had burn marks too.
