I finally got all the barrels and the frame is back from the FFL/Gunsmith taking care of the cylinder problems! This case is a Samsonite Quantum Focus they made them in later years and were strong cases with heavy duty locks and combo lock. not a case that was used by Dan Wesson but a close looking case with lots of upsides! They could hold extra weight with the large frame Supermag sets inside! I know these were not much of a stock item you could buy but sure looks nice. I'm working on a new case for this set and will post some more photo's when ready. I have to get the new gold name plates. I was saving correct Palmer Supermag manual and a correct patch!IMG_7756.JPGImage Enlarger

Looks great Stan!

What did your guy say was the issue causing  the reverse rotation?

most of the time a very good cleaning we did put a new spring into one of my guns also but there is one gun that does not seem to want to lock up all the time still. It's pretty good but depending on if you're pointing it up or down you can still get it to rotate backward. As my gunsmith looked at it closely the small thing that sticks up and holds the cylinder into place slopes down and will let it go depending on which way you have the gun pointed. I guess next is to try replacing that item  it's either that or the cylinder as the gun gets worn down and the cylinder stops will not hold the gun from rotating backward. The one gun that seems to still be having problems I guess we will try that next. Thee gun does not get out of time though and still works correctly when the hammer is in the back position it locks up tight and shoots fine. Stay tuned will try replacing the hand thing next (I know its not called the hand)

I doubt the bolt (that's what you're calling the hand thing) or the cylinder slots are the issue.  Unless there is a lot of (shooting) wear; most likely it's the bolt spring.  Try that first.  You can do it yourself.  By the way- the hand is the part that protrudes from the recoil shield and, when you pull the trigger in DA, it's what rotates the cylinder by pushing on the extractor.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Got it thanks! PS the Roland I just bought also did it a couple of times also when pointed down. He cleaned it and it went away. This is kind of a problem it seems with these older guns! Not one of my small frames have done it so that's good anyway! This 44 FB nickel Dan did it really badly. It would spin backward and my FFL/Gunsmith worked on it cleaned all the gunk out of it and now it works perfectly now. I was a bit broken when I  first found out how bad this one revolved backward. Just a good cleaning and it's good as new! IMG_7771.JPGImage Enlarger

Stan, I think  you've had more issues with reverse rotation than most of the forum combined.

Other than the 744 I got from you, I've never had another one do it, and I've handled a lot of Dan Wessons over the years.

Lucky me! The Dan gods are sending me down to the Devil's gun room! though shall buy Dans that do not work properly. There should be a small icon on gunbroker in the corner  that alerts buyers that this gun has passed all tests to become a Stan Dan. It will have some sort of problem no matter how small. range-timewifebroken-computermad I need a Smiley that has a little red guy with a pitch fork and devil ears! I'm betting some members have so many guns they just have not got them out and tried spinning the cylinder counterclockwise to see if they can dislodge it. Remember it does not just spin free but you have to put some pressure on it or try going the other way first and finding the sweet spot where it comes loose and clicks over to the next stop position!
