OfflineHello,
I’ve been trying to get through to CZ/DW customer service regarding the Bruin.
I have a few questions:
- Which of the optics plates on CZ site are for Bruin? Are all of the CZ plates compatible and it’s more about matching the plate to the optic?
- Which optic has been widely used and regarded as a good matchup?
- Can a standard 1911 magazine release be used on the Bruin? I’d like to install an oversized release.
- Is the Bruin use a standard 1911 take down method? The manual that comes with it does not seem to apply to the Bruin. The manual shows a 1911 model without a bushing and a 1911 model with a hex front guide rod.
Note: I’m not a newbie when it comes to 1911’s. I just prefer to review mfg notes before I start taking apart a new firearm.
Also, although the Bruin is “optics ready”, the manual doesn’t mention the optics plate at all. I like the firearm but I’m a bit disappointed with the level of support including basic documentation.
Any help would be appreciated. I’ve left several messages on CZ voicemail and commented on their Facebook page. I can’t seem to get a response.
Thank you!

OfflineWelcome to the forum from PA!!
You have to get the plate for the optic, they are cut the same on the guns. I'm partial to Trijicon, I started with their RMR's but switched to the SRO for the larger sight area. Both with be rugged enough for work on the Bruin. Both are very popular with shooters.
Mag release is standard 1911 style.
Should be a 'GI' type (just a little longer for the 6" barrel) guide rod, so take down is normal 1911. DW hasn't used a two piece guide rod for 20 or so years. I always take the complete slide unit off all together, then take spring out from backside, push barrel out of battery then rotate the bushing.
