Even though it's wearing some character marks, I think the $650 BIN price tag was a pretty decent price for this gun.Smile

I almost grabbed at this, as though I needed it, but it was a very decent price for a Norwich gun, don't see many of them  come up for sale.

Nope...I was really contemplating it for a few minutes, but decided I'd better not. My cash flow these last few months has slowed to a teensie drip.Embarassed I hope the economy improves here soon, because it sucks watching all these neat DW auctions lately from the sideline.

I thought that was just a cool DW period 🙂  DW and NRA on the same gun -- perfect.

How come this 2001 'Friends Of NRA' 44 Mag has a solid cylinder (unfluted) unlike the example shown earlier in this thread? Could the various chapters specify preference or was there a change mid year… and is one more collectible? This example is marked with a state rather than county...which now leads me to believe there are far more of them out there than I had hoped.

Norwich had (and still does) a "build it how you want it" style of doing business. Just guessing, I imagine that the original order of these guns probably called for X-amount of unfluted cylinders in the mix. If we could get our hands on one of the original ads or pamphlets, it may explain that better.

From a collectible standpoint, it's hard to say. Usually the most desireable of some item ends up being the item they made the least of.rofl Myself, I would love to have a DW with an unfluted cylinder.

Monson guns were available with non-fluted cylinders (no difference in price), surprising that you never seem to see any.. When you think about it, non-fluted was probably a little less expensive to manufacture.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

When I first ecountered this 2001 DW NRA model, I thought they might be raffle guns. Now I'm wondering if that was the case or if they were just another offering from DW with perhaps a portion of sale proceeds going to the NRA...any insight?
