OfflineWhen I say new, I mean brand new old stock. This was a heck of a find so I have to show it off to the gang here..
what is particularly interesting to me on the label is the bright blue finish?.
I don’t have many of the original cases with labels. This is the first time I’ve seen the bright blue finish on the label.
Not sure how common that was. I’m sure ole dog could give me a history lesson which I look forward to reading..

I think Bright Blue finish is the DW term for polished blue as opposed to matte blue used of most model 14-2s. I could check the many boxes and cases I have but I think if they are not Matte blue or stainless they say Bright blue.
That is a gorgeous gun . Post 1986 Monson with the improved sideplate cylinder stop and the knurled hammer tang. Did you get a barrel tool with it?

Offlinenice! Don't find them in that condition very often. I have two like that. I have a 15-2 PAC that's in unfired condition not even a turn ring & my 32-20 Hunter pac is also that way. I have a few others but they're stainless steel so they do not get marked up as easily. I have a Palmer 40 that's new also. I would take that beauty out of the holster and keep it it in the box! a safe queen!

OfflineWe can all agree that it’s a really beautiful revolver, but I also have reservations about the NOS status since Stinger has brought it up. The attached photo shows what the fit of the side plate should look like on a “new” DW. Dragging your thumbnail across either seam should encounter very little if any drag.

I agree with Stinger about the wear on the crane . However DW is quite varied on sideplate fitting. Not like Smiths. The gap is not something that would happen from use or being removed and put back. Maybe factory worker had a hangover. The fact that there is no barrel tool is strange. But if it was sold as just a receiver like many DWs it would explain that lack of a tool . Regardless, tools can be obtained. It is a beautiful gun with no sideplate scratches.
