I inherited a Dan Wesson model 40 with an 8-inch barrel, blued with the slotted shroud. It's in excellent condition. I am adding it to my homeowner's insurance and would like to know the approximate value. Any help would be appreciated.

$1200 to 1600 depending on having box, Tool and extra barrel tube that came with it.

You may not realize it but the model 40 can also shoot 357 Magnum and 38 Special. You may not want to alert the insurance company or possibly the government of your inheritance. No background check done, no record of ownership. If it were me I would keep it that way. Great for home protection.
If you live in a People's Republic you may have to register it and get a permit. OR MOVE to a free state like Florida.
