I have never been a fan of the "E" serial #ed Model 40s and 740s.   I felt they weren't as accurate and somewhat problematic.   I still have one problem child model 40.

Yesterday, I read this:

"...Back then Dan Wesson revolvers were known for excellent accuracy IF you got a good one. Some did not have the accuracy of the others. It was also known that if you had problems with accuracy, you could send the gun back to Dan Wesson and they would "fix" it. Not sure what they did to "fix" it but guns that came back always had excellent accuracy.   Well, this was one of those that needed to be sent back. But when it came back from Dan Wesson it was awesome!"
 

So, it's not just me?    Did anyone else have issues with "E" guns?

Does anyone know what DW did to fix them when sent back?

No first had knowledge of what they did but I imagine most of it involved truing the cylinder to ensure it was flat faced. Ensure/ making all chamber dimensions were correct but particularly the throats. Checking/ recutting forcing cone and crown. Doing those things can really tighten up accuracy in any revolver.
