I'm in the process of buying an older 15-2 .357 serial #915XX which judging from the original owners on the registry should be @1977. Are the DWA medallion stocks correct for the period? I happen to have a nice DW smooth walnut stock with no medallions. What was the smooth, non checkered walnut stock made for? Here's a photo of the smooth stock on my other 15-2 that now wears a Pachmayr Gripper. Ignore the arrow pointing to over travel screw please.

I think DWA medallions are appropriate. The smooth non medallion grips were offered around 1973 I think and for a few years after. Styles overlapped. There are also the diamond shaped checkering and other checkered shape without medallions. Those grips could very well be original equipment.Â
