I have a bad case of DWAS! I started with a Model 22 Pistol Pack but now I think a need at least one of all of the 7 series
Yesterday I picked up a 715 w/ 6". The paperwork called the model DW 715-U. What does the U mean? Is the model stamped anywhere on the frame/cylinder/grip/barrel/shroud? The S/N is a SD series with only four digits. Any idea when this would have left the factory in Monson?

Congrats on the acquisitions. And welcome to the group. Could the letter U possibly be a V? Then it would stand for vent rib. If it is a U I have no clue. As far as manuf date probably early 80s but someone else may be able to get closer but unfortunately the records are elusive.

I agree, it's most likely a "V", especially if that paperwork is hand written.
I would also agree that the gun was probably manufactured in the early to mid 80's, according to the s/n style.
