OfflineLong time follower, first time poster. Â I bought a model 12 with no external nut on the 6 inch barrel. Â The other barrel is about 4 inches but does have the external nut. Â Is the 6 inch safe to use? Â would it be from a model 14? Â The shroud is a pork chop model so I am really confused. Â Any help would be much appreciated. Â I am worried because I know that the sights have different heights.

Does the shroud have a machined recess with an internal nut holding the barrel? Â If so, I'd say a model 14 or 15 shroud was put on. Â If the shroud is secured with some kind of barrel nut the it should be safe to shoot. Â A quick trip to the range will tell you if the sight blade needs changed. Â Also, compare the sglhroud profile to the other one you have and see if the sights mat h up..
A few pics would help us a lot. Â

OfflineLooks like a model 15 shroud was used with the internal nut. Â The sight heights should be close to that of the 12. Â Take it to the range and see how it shoots. Â You will probably need to adjust the elevation some to get POI/POA to match. Â Looks like a nice W12! Â Bluing is very shiny and dark. Â
