I have 357 maxium/supermag. I went to take the barrel off & the 357 tool didn't work. seems the lugs on the tool thats supposed to lock into the barrel are too short. I tried an aftermarket tool & the original 357 tool ,,,,,,,Â

Did the tool come with the gun in a box?original tool? Maybe you are using a small frame tool. The model 40 uses a large frame tool with a 357 caliber guide. EWK makes one with interchangable guides for the different caliber. Are the lugs too short or are they not lining up with the slots?
