Purchased from a small gun store in Oklahoma. I t was advertised as stainless unfired
well definitely never fired and definitely not stainless….it is a matt nickel finish
cannot find any information on this….would the M in 15-M stand for matt
it is much nicer looking than the photo suggests
appreciate anyone could supply more information

I don't know all the details but it looks to me like you made a great score, depending on how much you paid.
If you can provide pics showing the frame under the crane, serial number etc.. you will get some knowledgeable folks like Ole Dog to tell us all about it!

Yes…think I did get lucky, evidently nickel DW’s are not very common and never fired, the previous owner was jut a collector
i paid 1800 after shipping, so I think it is o.k.
attached are a couple close up pics..shadows makes the gun look a bit weird.
really appreciate getting information on this one….will put it with the gun.
Think I will keep this unfired….now I have to purchase a shooter

Really interesting DW for sure. You made a great score getting this revolver for the price you paid! Can’t wait for Ole Dog to tell us what the M stands for; no pressure. 🤔

Okay, okay. I suspect the M stands for Matte nickel. There would be an N if it was regular nickel. A really nice score but maybe a little high in price,although pork chops are rising in value after being ignored for a long time.
I would take the unfired claim with a bit of scepticism. And I would shoot it. The difference in value would be insignificant. The patch, buckle, and checkered target grip are not original to the pack. They hail from the 15-2 Era. Your gun is a 15 from possibly 1971 or 1972. The prize is the walnut grip blank. That is worth probably $150. 3 or 4 times what the checkered target is worth. Lol.
Are there 3 Barrel nuts? The exterior nut model 12 came with just one 12 sided nut in a pack but the 15s had an interior nut for each BA.

there is only one barrel nut which is on the gun now
I really believe it is unfired …. No cylinder turn line at all, very close inspection no evidence of being fired
The gun shop sold under consignment from owner who stated never fired…he supposedly purchase the pac new
anyway, I probably won’t shoot it…just add to the estate

Ole Dog, I'm confused by the apparent "shorter" front sight blade on the six inch barrel. It almost seems to be from a 15-1, and perhaps filed down a little at that. Or is it just poor photography?

Sharp eyes 3ric, but I can't tell for sure on my phone if it is shorter or obscured. If it is shorter I would think the pack is not original factory nickel but assembled with the 6" shroud being a model 14.

also there are extra sights included in a small brown package of additional sights

Yes, the front sight is the correct height. The extra sights are not for porkchops though. Like the checkered target grip, they are for the later interchangable front sight - 2s.

if the original owner is to be believed, he purchased new sometime in the early 70’s

I agree, Ole Dog, the "M" is for matte nickel. And to me, this Pac looks very original, minus the items you pointed out. The patch, buckle, extra sights, and the grip on the gun are from a decade later. The other "combat" grip & the grip blank are likely original to the Pac. The black Pac case is period correct, and is likely original to the set. One last thought...the "service"(?) grip with the small medallion looks like a Powerwood (plastic) grip, and is in fantastic condition! The silver on the medallion can easily be brushed off, leaving yellow plastic underneath...as most are these days that I've seen. I even have one with wiped off silver. So be extra careful wiping down that grip.
Capt Jack, thanks for showing off your new (to you) Matte Nickel Model 15 Pac, it looks great! 
And unlike Ole Dog, I would not shoot this one either, if it was mine. I guess the shoot/no-shoot thing depends on how many other DW's a guy has...as for myself, I have many others that run just fine at the range. 
Counting on my fingers, I think I have an even half dozen DW's that I've never fired due either to rarity & being super clean, or unfired past the factory. I do keep them all cleaned & lubed though, annually.

I never had much interest in Powerwood grips for the reasons you mentioned. However, recently I scored an As New Powerwood grip. It also will never be used. I think I stole it.

Yes, they are art work! 
That's cool that you landed an as new Powerwood. I have one of them, in sort of average shape. I got it cheap, mainly to have as part of my collection of DW grips. If I find another one that is super clean, I will gladly snag it...but probably not use it.
