Hello, Forum Members! I just bought this gun from an individual seller. I know it’s a model 715, with a likely manufacture date in the early to mid 1980’s. It’s a really nice piece - the finish is very good for a 40+ year old gun; the lockup is tight and the trigger in both DA and SA is really nice. I can’t wait to shoot it. I’m curious about provenance, though. The guy I bought it from didn’t really know much that was reliable. He was told by someone that this particular gun was a gift from Dan Wesson himself to an oil company executive, probably in Oklahoma. Is there any way to determine from the serial number where this gun went after leaving the DW factory? Inquiring minds want to know…😎

Welcome to the forum from PA!! No way of telling where the guns shipped as when they went bankrupt twice the ATF takes all of the paperwork from the company. Old adage, buy the gun, not the story.

Nope. Dan passed away in 1978. The 715, Stainless did not come to fruition until 1983.
