That's the barrel nut .. I reffered to as the "flash enhancer". When you fire off a nice hot   .357 round, the extended nut seems to give the eye something to focus and measure the flash with.

PS; Jag what kind of camera are you using... my digitals.. just cannot seem to take a pic worth crap (esp compared to yours). I have an old 4mp and a new JVC 10MP which will shoot video in HD... but so far my pics are looking horrible. Mostly just too much glare from the flash.

I have a Kodak EasyShare 2710,  7.1 meg w/ 10x optical zoom, although I usually don't zoom.  It's about 5 years old and discontinued, but the Kodak cameras are pretty good. This one I got on the Kodak web site for under $250.00.
I think it's all in the lens.ÂÂ

I put 50 rounds of .357  160 gr SWC over 15 gr IMR4227 down the 8" barrel I got from Eric and it was very accurate. Shot it at 25 yrds on a rest and grouped around 3". I'm not very good at this shooting stuff yet and the eyes are giving me some trouble also.

Jagg! That sounds like a positive report to me! If you could do a comparsion to an original DW barrel, that would be great!
