Hi, as you may have read I recently acquired a 445. I have torn it down, cleaned, replaced mainspring, etc.Â

Another problem that this gun has is that the crane hits the barrel and is getting dinged up. There is a small amount of play in it. When I close the cylinder I have to pull the crane back to prevent it from snagging.

From disassembly it would seem to me that the crane lock should be a tad bit thicker to tighten this up.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The crane lock is a wearing part and is easily replaced with some
minor fitting. Last time I bought one it was $20 if I remember right.

I haven't had one of the large frames torn down so can't help! Â DO they have a keeper in them that would prevent the play? Â

It's physically impossible for the crane to hit the barrel. I could see it if the front of the crane is hitting the rear of the shroud, though.
Someone else may have a better idea, but I only see one way to fix the problem, short of replacing the crane. Have someone make you a new crane retaining clip that is a couple thousanths thicker, to pull the crane rearward in the frame & reduce front to rear travel.

You may even be able to make one yourself, since it's a fairly low tech piece.
