Hey SHOOT,
Nice find. Â A little red paint and they baby will look brand new!Â
You'd be amazed what a little elbow grease will do to old presses. Usually they are in great shape, but covered in powder/lube/oil/dust/etc. Typically I dissassemble them as far as I can, and clean all the pieces with something like simple green cleaner. Once I have all the heavy stuff off... (here's the tricky part)
When the wife is not home, you take all the pieces and load them in the dishwasher--run it for a full heavy cycle
. The parts will come out remarkably clean. Sometimes the paint fades a little due to the heat--I have an old original rockchucker that is more of a minty green due to this process.
