I need to replace the extracter on my DW 22. Called Norwick. They want me to ship the DW and said it will take 4-6 weeks. Anyone know how difficult it is to replace? Would prefer to order the part and do it myself. Any instructions I could get would be appreciated.

The extractor is listed as a Factory Install item, likely because fitting may be needed to assure correct timing. They are not going to sell you that part, it could probably to go to a gunsmith.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Like Steve said, it is a fitted part so unless you know a local gunsmith who you can really rely on to get the timing correct, I would recommend biting the bullet and sending to the Dan Wesson factory, where they know what they are working on.

I don't understand the timing issue. Do I have the part wrong? I am talking about the piece that you use to manually pushes the spent shells out of the cylinder on the 22 revolver. In the parts manual I believe it is #33.

The hand engages with the notches in the extractor (#33) and rotates the cylinder. The hand needs to be fitted with the extractor to achieve the proper timing. If you need an extractor, chances are you may need the hand and other parts as well.Â

So the extractor really needs to be fitted, since it's a part that affects the timing of your revolver.
