The .445 SM is back in action!
Â
I just wanted to update it. Eric [EWK] rechased the threads on the barrel and re-crowned it. The barrel had a tiny chip or ding inside the barrel by the nut. Eric was able to re-crown and recesses it. He did an excellent job. L.B. did an incredible job too getting the barrel out of the pistol which had a mangled nut.
Here are the before and after pic.
Before
Â
After with Eric's new nut
Â
Before the thread had marks on both sides. Unable to thread a nut.
Â
Â
After: Eric re-chased the threads and re-crowned the barrel to remove a chip mark inside the barrel. Beautiful work Eric!
Â
Before: Note the small chip on the barrel at 2:00. Eric repaired that. Notice the mangled nut, no lugs to use the tool on. L.B. was able to get the barrel out which was incredible.
Â
After: Barrel and nut re-installed and looks like new. Thanks Eric and L.B. I would like to mention that Eric was more than reasonable on his price to repair the barrel and re-crown it. It was only  a fraction of the cost of a new barrel. I put these pics here so that if you run up on something like this you know it's fixable with the right people.

I bet you could not be happier after that mess.

Thanks to the professionalism of my Georgia friends in getting it all apart, it was a easy repair!
