A cool picture of the GIGN in action. There are at least 4 MR73 Fixed Sight Revolvers.

Wow! Don't see those everyday. Looks to be in amazing shape too. Does it ever see any range time? Great looking revolver you have there, Rex.

Very nice. I think I saw that one. Professionally restored. It has the early S&W style insular rachet with piano wire hand spring. From the 70s. In early 80s they went with a Dan Wesson style of rachet and a leaf hand spring. I bought a very cosmetically challanged 4" used gendarme model and my wife was very critical of the purchase. You paid what for that piece of junk? After shooting it she confiscated it. It is her favorite and most accurate gun. They are probably the most durable revolver ever made. I have 3 other very lightly used Manurhin MR 73s.

@Ole dog : l saw that other MR you mentioned on gunbroker not long ago.  It looked brand new!  They share a very low first year four-digit serial only a dozen numbers apart, and l communicated with the seller about it.  If you notice, mine has definite holster wear around the muzzle and cylinder edges. The bottom of the original grips and gun butt have some small nicks and scratches, the barrel is plum under white light, and in person it looks a little more faded, so I've always assumed the blueing is original and that it looks so good cause it spent most of it's life as some Gendarmes  side gun. The inside is squeaky clean and the mechanism shows no sign of wear ( i have another well worked example a year newer but missing parts that l use to compare) Either way it's a beautiful gun, as you know,  and to me it has the perfect balance, size, weight and looks...and to shoot it in double action is where the fun is. Trigger pull has a separate adjustment, without affecting hammer tension. So because the mere 42 degree hammer travel is so short, (a Python has a long 56degree travel) and an  ingenious mix of linear spring pressure and friction-dissipating rollers the gun stays trained on target a lot easier in D/A.

When I discovered that it can be done and reversed, l used a little Flitz on the hammer and trigger to get rid of that fruity looking "straw" golden color, and then reassembled it. Looks so much better now..Yet the strawing may be restored by alternating heat and water quenching using a conventional oven or propane torch until desired depth, or so l hear. Will try it on the spare gun someday.

Beautiful gun. The short hammer fall is only surpassed in the model 11,12,14,and 15 Dan Wessons. By 25,000 or so the short action trigger disappeared. Probably complaints about light primer strikes. The Manurhin solved that by the screw to adjust the trigger return spring. I have 3 Revolvers that are my favorite for DA. A nickel model 14, a 4" Python and any Manurhin mr73. I have an unfired Korth but I cannot attest to the Slickness of the DA. One thing I like about Dan Wessons is the trigger works while the cylinder is open.

The best DA trigger in my Dan stable is my 15-N .. quicker than a snake bite and smooth as butter.

Nice revolver. I saw one recently for sale on another forum, but I can't recall which one. I believe it was the S&W forum (with a dash), but it may have been the 1911 addicts forum. I was quite tempted.
