So...  last weekend the wife said she wanted to get a keyless entry system for the house.  I brought this home last night after work and placed it on the bar.  She wasn't impressed.  Back to the drawing board.

Hmm, I like it, but I would call it more of an entry deterrent system cool

I've always been intrigued by the KelTec KSG.

12+1 of 12 gauge 3", the ability to switch to a barrel/magazine loaded for a specific need (slugs/shot) in  18"?

Pistol grip and multiple rails?

A one man wrecking crew!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I would like the KSG if I were back in my 20s but now that I have the back of a 70 year old (says the VA) the gassers are the only way to go for me.  1 3/4 oz of shot out of the 7 lb KSG is for the younger boyz.  It is a cool design though!

I took the FN to the range (backyard) last night for a functions test.  I really enjoyed shooting it, although I kinda cringed as I pulled the trigger for the first time.  It was stoked with 3", 00 Buck (1 7/8 oz) and felt like I was shooting a 2 3/4", 1 1/8 oz load.  Pleasantly surprised.  Everything functioned as expected, the sights are a little left at 10 yards but still averaged 12 of 15 pellets impacting the steel. I'll sight it in when I buy more 00 Buck shot but for now it's in position and ready to go.  I dare those pigs (literally) to come within 50 yards of the house....

I'd go with the DP-12 over the KSG.

But I'm a Stevens 520 guy and use these for keyless entry, 6 shots in under 6 seconds if you need to...IMG_0529.JPGImage Enlarger

^^^Super info there, thanks for sharing. I want one. I grew up in the fifties and remember these humpbacks...thought they were cool.

Any particular models one should stay away from due to lack of parts, function or gauge?

Thanks again.

As a hunting or home defense gun the following are the best choices, any Model 520 after 1925 (these will be double hump store brand Sears Rangers and Wards Western Field Model 30, or trade brad Riverside Arms 520), any Model 520A (flat top single hump in store and trade brands) and any Model 620/620A (rounded receiver Stevens or Western Field 60).  The pre 1925 Model 520s have an inertial slide release that unlocks the action on recoil and not on a dry fire.  You have to manually unlock them with the slide release.  Parts are still available at places like Numrich and on eBay and GB.  12 and 16 gauge are built on the same frame, 20 gauges are on a smaller frame and command a premium.

I apologize to the OP for the hijack.
