OfflineGoing to a sale tomorrow where there are two Colt Python 357s coming up. One is 6"with Pachmyr grippers the other one is 8" with factory wood grips. Both look excellent, just wondering what something like this should fetch.

OfflineWell given the choice between one Colt and two Dans, I'll take two Dans! I can see it now, "but honey, I got two for the price of one so I SAVED money"

OfflineI'd probably take one Python over 2 15-2/715's, I have a few of those and no Python. Since Colt is headquartered in Hartford, I sometimes see some very beautiful factory customs that are being sold out of a Colt executive's collection.
I think the Python is a stunning looking revolver
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OfflineOn this side of the country (CA), Pythons in reasonably good condition are in the 1200 - 2000 range, and if in great condition, maybe higher.  For the most part, they're not on the CA-approved list anymore, so that inflates the market, too. ÂÂ
As for beauty, Pythons are iconic, IMHO, and one of the most attractive wheel guns around.  I had a long-time serious jones for a Python and was on the verge of going big (e.g., $1900) on a beautiful, rarely-used 4" in stainless, when my buddy let me shoot his Dan (a 15-2 w/ 6" bbl).  Whoa, stop the presses! I was sold. That little excursion to the range just after Christmas caused me to jump the Python Ship and get on the Dan Wagon. Now, here I am, with my (new-to-me) Model 15-2 .357 Pistol Pac, ready to bear the brunt of all the California jokes.
Still would like to get a good Python for the collection, but I'm not in any great hurry.  My boys and I are going to the range today, and Dan's ridin' along!
Best to all,
PCC

My favorite, 8" Python Target in .38 Special.
IHMSA80X80,
ÂÂ
Please pardon my Python ignorance, but what are the identifying features of a target model?  I just picked-up an 8" model that looks much like the one in your picture, with the front sight angled differently.  The front sight on mine is ramped, with day-glow orange on the ramp.
ÂÂ
Thanks,
Wayne
ÂÂ
Edit: I found your other post under Colt DA revolvers, which explained what the target model is.  Nope, I wasn't lucky enough to stumble onto a target model
I did get a shooter grade 8" model at a decent price though

OfflineThe Target model is chambered only in .38 Special, and they were only made in 8" versions. I believe somewhere around 3500 total guns manufactured, with less than 700 in nickel finish. I sent mine back to Colt for installation of their superb Eliason sight, which also included the new front blade.
I also have a matching nickel Python Target

OfflineI have forgotten which link on Imgur to click on to get Dean's photos restored and/or to add photos.
ÂÂ
Also, how do I get the Missing Photobucket to disappear from the post after trying to restore missing photos?
ÂÂ
Can anyone tell me please?
ÂÂ
Thank you.
