Looks like they are still asking a mint for these guns, MSRP $1168!  For that money you can buy a vintage pistol pac, or a nice 1911 Heritage.  These guns need to be sub $1K to have broad appeal IMHO.

"'round and 'round, what goes around comes around"

I can predict the future:

A bunch of poor schmucks will buy these at MSRP, six months later trade them in for half that, and go around wondering what the big deal is with DW revolvers. If you're going to invest $1000 + in a new Dan Wesson, add some more $$$ and get a 1911.

OR pay $1200 for the "new" 715 with the "HV" barrel, then pistol whip yourself with it for being a dope.

Ooops, I guess my true feelings on this slipped out, sorry

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

It is an indication of what a deal we have been getting on all the LNIB dans we have been buying. Makes me want to go bid on more lightly used dans of ALL calibers. My DWAS has been in remission but some symptoms are showing.

Well I could say a lot about what I think is wrong with the new 715 and it's price. But honestly I am just thrilled that CZ/ DW is attempting to keep the wheel gun alive in it's inventory, regardless if it is overpriced or not what I believe to be the best marketing strategy. Hopefully things will pick up and a full line including large frames will follow. Probably not but at least they are trying, something I did not expect to see.

OK, so in today's world I need to have a positive outlook about something. Or maybe I'm screwy

I would pay $1,500.00 for a new 715 before I would pay .10 cents for Windows 8, oh oK now that you know how I really feel wink

It's good to see they are making them again. Though they ain't cheap, if you look at what else is around, your at least getting what you pay for. If they sell enough, the price might get better. I am sure there not making huge quantities at first and that always jacks up the price. Personally, I think if the quality is as good as in the past, they will be one of the best guns out there at any price.dwf

maybe the msrp is too high? compare it to a performance center s&w 686 6" weighted barrel competitor for $1439, it seems lately that everything gun related is overpriced, personally i'd pay the $1168, how many dealers are going to sell them for that? i'd bet ya can find a dealer selling them for a $1000 or less

I'll start out with LB's positive outlook, and I think the greatest result from the second re-introduction would be an aggressive pricing structure on an entry level, high quality .357 Mag revolver, with the ability to interchange barrel lengths, grips, front sights, and to have multi length B/A's in the same box,

AND

Play in to the aftermarket for grips, sighting options, shroud options, scope mounts, and customizing.

The "new" 715 could be, in many respects, the new "1911" of the revolver world, I think that this is what Dan was trying to do, and that CZ will just never understand.

My Good News is that I have enough of the original, real Dan Wessons to meet my needs.

Anyone who buys one of the new guns has my support and admiration for keeping the legacy of Dan Wesson alive

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think SteveCT is right on. Look how much Dan Wesson makes on parts and options( shrouds, grips, sights, etc.) . Expect a rise in value of our existing dans as more people compare the cost of old vs. new. An eight shot cylinder would make it compare better to a 1911.

Take a close look at the picture at the bottom of this auction. That gap between the front of the cylinder and the crane/frame?

Very interesting. Resembles a 722 with a fiber optic front sight.

Wouldnt that extra space allow for chambering the revolver in supermag calibers while easily utilizing the same frame layout ?????? Maybe they planned ahead on this.

I know Smith and Wesson did a re-release  of "classic" revolvers awhile ago. What did this do to the value of the old original guns ?

I think it's unlikely that they would try to stuff any SuperMag caliber into the small frame. The step down to .22 lr makes much more sense, and this looks exactly like what a .22 lr/.22 mag would look like in the "new" small frame.

It also kind of looks like an "artist rendering" type of photo, not looking like a photo of an actual gun.
