 Maybe ya'll can tell me what I got here. It looks like a Dan Wesson 22 LR with two barrels.
 4" and 6". It came in a case that I thought someone just put together out of an old samsonite make up case, some foam and a piece of left over curtain cloth. Turns out this could be an original case. Glad I did not pitch it. After reading your posts I figured that one of ya'll may be interested in it. I would rather it go to some one who would appreciate it for what it is and want it for their collection than just sell it to someone here local. I have seen some wierd pricing on these and do not know this ones value. There is a tool in the case but it is too large for this revolver. It may be a tool for a 357/38?

Welcome to the forum, yes to me it looks like a .22 with 2 barrels, which model # would simply be model 22. I think also that is a Dan Wesson case, and you are right the tool most likely is for .357. Perhaps the original owner also had a .357 and the tools got switched.
   It is great that you would perhaps offer it for sale here on the forum, I am not up on .22 values but I am certain it will generate interest here.

Yes, that's a factory DW "Mini Pac" case, possibly original to the gun. The grip is from an older model 14 or 15, so Lonwolf may be right assuming that a previous owner mixed up the cleaning tools.
It sounds like this is a for sale thread? If so, I'll move this thread to the appropriate area. Also, thanks for offering it here, I'm sure one of our members would love to pounce on it.

hello , im new to forums ..
but here it goes .. i have a dan wesson 357. made in Monson Mass.. 5 digit serial#.. 518**..4 inch barrel. cant find alot of info on internet but it think its a model 14 ..not sure...ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED .. THX

Yep, early 14-2 with Powerwood grips. A WAG (Wild A** Guess) would be a 1976.

awesome ....wow finally some real knowledge...is it considered a small frame wesson or large? most of the places i find say the super mags and such r the large frames but its a big gun i own i wouldnt think it a small frame

and also i went through the serial redistry on this website provided ... and all the 14-2's all have 6 digit serials.. what is the diff between the 14-1 and -2 's ?

Its a small frame. The large frames are the 41mag, 44mag, 45 long Colt etc. Then there is the Supermag frame, 357max. 375 SM, 414 SM, 445 SM. These guns have a larger frame window than the large frame guns due to the longer cylinder of the supermag guns.Â

thanks scropio...any suggestions on grips ? i saw lb custom grips web site.. love the wood grips but also need one for shooting not just a safe queen.. was thinking houge rubber ?

Welcome to the forum, yes I recommend picking up a Hogue rubber grip to start, they are available many places on the internet and economical under $20. I also really like Hogue's wood grips for Dan Wesson, more expensive but very nice. And anything made by LB is beautiful and also practical.
  Many people like rubber grips that Pachmayr used to make but they are getting pricey on Ebay.

14/15, and 14-1/15-1, were the first of the recessed (hot external) barrel nut. The -1 series included many refinements and running changes. These were still all "Pork Chop" style shrouds with the extended "foot" that ran along the lower frame.
The -2 series was the BIG change for DW, with the straight shroud being the most noticeable, but by no means, the only change.
I think you don't see many 14-2 5 digit numbers is simply because many, many more 15-2's were made

thank u all for the information... i am that much, more happy i have one now.. ....
question though... yall think it will hurt/help value overall if i have it reblued? i bought it from my mother ..she kept it in the zipper case shown above and never oiled it so there r some pitting along the barrel; and a small nitch where someone took the cylinder and didnt align it first.

By all means, have it reblued if you would like, and so you don't affect the value or originality, DWF Member hotbluer was a DW bluer.Â

NIce find even if miss treated! I like the service models, you can find other BA's though beware of the front sight difference, shorter on the 14's. Reblue with Steve's suggestion, you will be pleased!Â
