Hello all, I inherited from my grandpa a case with the belt buckle and 3 barrels, heavy with vents, for a 357 magnum stainless Dan Wesson, I believe a 715. I’m wondering about getting the tool to change them, buying a 4” revolver, and what a good price would be for that. I want to honor my grandpas legacy by getting this thing completed, although I’ve had people offer to buy them so if I can’t find the gun I guess I’d be curious on the value. I’ll throw a pic in here as well, although I can't figure out how on the forum. Thanks!

Anything less than $750 would be reasonable for a 715 VH4. There will be tax and fees on top of that. A nice condition grip should be included. A proper Pistol pack also has a second grip, usually a finger groove combat grip. A Zebrawood grip is an upgrade. Also, 2 white and 2 red front sights in addition to the 4 red ones. They come in a little Manila envelope. A Forum member is selling replicas on eBay. The tool should be the steel barrel with cross bar and 3 Allen wrenches. A patch is appropriate. Brochures, warrenty card and instruction manual is of course needed.

You could sell the partial pack. If you sell it whole you will not realize all it's value. The 3 barrel assemblies are worth at least $350 each. The suitcase 200 to $300. Condition is important. So, sell for $1200 and then buy a complete pack for $1800 to 2200. Much easier. Or buy a complete pack and the pieces you need to complete what you have and start building numerous packs including 22lr,32 mag, 44 mag, etc. That is what I would do.. Lol.

Greetings from N. Texas!

I agree mostly with Ole Dog.   Is there a chance the gun from the pac still exists in the family?   Have you pulled out the foam inserts to see what other papers/parts are underneath?   To honor Grandpa, if not finding the original gun...(SER# on label on Right side of case?) then find a 715 and similar model and piece it back together.  Members here have all sorts of spare parts and you can budget out your project.
