Hello

Thinking about purchasing a 715 from the original owner. He said it was purchased in the early 90's. He only used the 4" & 6" barrels less than 200 rounds. Does this look complete? Whats it worth?

Thank you for your input.

Looks pretty complete, but probably should be a belt buckle; can't tell about the case, doesn't look right but more photos are needed. The grip in lower right corner doesn't look like DW.

If you get it, you should replace the barrel wrench with a metal one. The plastic ones tend to break, especially as they get older.

Welcome to the Forum from Wisconsin.  I agree, from the picture it is hard to tell but the case does not loom original and it came with a belt buckle also which you can buy on E-Bay for 70-80 if you want it.

I think Snake-Eye is correct 1600-1700 would be OK depending if the case is correct.

Thank you for the feedback. It is the original case that came with it. He does have the belt buckle, but not sure where it is. The serial number indicates it was made in 1987. He is firm at $2000. I'm getting the impression its on the high side of value?

I would need to see a picture of the outside of the case and also handle and latches to determine if it is the original case. I copied the picture to my desktop and blew it up it sure does not look like original case to me.  If he could come up with the belt buckle he is on the high side but if you like it go for it.  I would be willing to go to 1800-1900 maybe.  He has changed out the internal fabric and foam most likely it the original fabric was there and in like new condition then maybe 2000.

I agree, that case does not look like it came from DW. The grip in the lower right of both photos is definitely not DW.

The gun, BA's & grips all do look like they are in great shape. Mainly because of the case, I have a hunch that the gun started out as a base 715, then the other BA's were added as funds came available, to build a pac. So I would try to dicker him down to at least $1800. But if you looked the gun & components over carefully & all seem very nice in person, and you really want it, none of us here would bust your chops for paying $2K for it. I've spent more than I wanted in the past, for a gun that I really loved. wink  I think most of here are guilty of that, at one time or another.

Maybe get the seller to throw in a few boxes of ammo! goodluck

It is definitely not a Dan Wesson factory case, what did you decide to do about purchasing the Dan?

The case is a vintage Gun Guard brand made by Plano. Plano still makes the Gun Guard cases, but the current ones are much more modern looking. Still, it is a decent case that would be fine to use, and is probably close to the same vintage as the Gun. I wouldn't get so hung up about the case or the belt buckle. While it is a top dollar price; if you want the gun, buy it! Looks to be in pristine condition.
