Hello!
I'm in Alberta, and my dad is passing me down his Dan wesson .357 pistol pac model 15. Sadly the laws here mean he had to surrender the 2 shortest barrels to transfer to me, but it is what it is.
The gun itself is a beauty but needs a new cylinder. I guess it ate a spicy load decades ago. Parts are hard enough to find, let alone find a seller willing to ship to Canada.
Anyone know where I might find one? I already have it on watch at numrich, but they are sold out currently. I am trying to find one with urgency due to it potentially being impossible to import one soon, thanks to our wonderful political climate.

Very curious as to the current condition of your cylinder. Also, is this indeed a model 15, or a 15-2? The cylinders are different for these two DW’s. A good clear photo of the cylinder from a couple of different angles would be most helpful.

Hmm, ok I guess I will hold off until I have the gun in hand. Still waiting on reclassification to transfer it to me, as I am unsure.

Turns out it is a model 15 2V
serial is 313724 I saw elsewhere around here that the serial number might lend more info about the gun?

Looks like a 15-2VH to me. Really looking forward to seeing what the cylinder looks like, and why it needs replaced. Keep those photos coming.

Too hot of a load apparently. The cylinder expanded and it binds or something. It's going to be a bit before I can get better pics

Probably needs the end gap set on the barrel. No biggie if you have the tool and a set of feeler gauges.

GT4RC, when you stated that the cylinder needed replaced I assumed it was damaged beyond repair. If it’s a simple matter of a binding problem it will probably be a relatively easy fix as 605Dart has said. Highly unlikely there’s anything major wrong with this revolver.

Well that would be good news. I'll have to wait until I have it in hand to see what's going on with it.

That is why Dan Wessons are the thinking man's gun. Smiths you just pick up and shoot. Dans have to have the barrel gap set. It really is very simple but most people are very simple also. 🤣. If a Smith doesn't work it goes to a Smith or the factory. Dans were designed to not need a Smith. Barrel changes, different shape grips take minutes to change. Parts are drop in and available. You most likely will have to unscrew the barrel nut, remove the shroud and unscrew the barrel tube a turn or two. Read the "Average Joe Tuneup" in Gunsmithing.

I actually spoke with my dad some more about it. He figures one of the chambers on the cylinder has expanded. When trying to extract the spent casings they are stuck. I thought it was a binding issue but it is not. At this point I'm not gonna try and guess anything and wait til I have it in hand. Just waiting on the transfer to be finished on the gubmint side of things.
