OfflineHey everyone,
Â
Been lurking for a while learning which 44 to get and finally settled on a DW, Here she is...Anybody got an idea of it's birthday? It was made in Monson, Mass. serial # 012948. Picked it up in an estate sale and came with a scope, 3 8-3/8'' barrels and 2 shrouds. 1 shroud has an engraving of the previous owner. I plan on trading or selling a barrel or two and the extra shroud for a 6 or 4 inch matching set...
Very nice, welcome to the forum. I suspect your gun was manufactured in early 80's,maybe 81. Up till around serial number 10,000 the 44 had a shorter hammer spur. You may have a hunter pack or field pistol pack. The case may be original DW. Probably brown vinyl and aluminum. More picts please.Â

OfflineI am quite sure I got the hunter pack then, I don't have pictures of it right now but it is a brown case with yellow foam, and on the outside the plastic is molded to a scene of deer and flocks of waterfowl in the background. It came with a tasco scope and weaver mounts but unfortunately the previous owner was reckless enough to tap and drill the frame and shrouds for the weaver mounts. I had a smith plug them with flush screws and cleaned up the spots...let me see if I can take a pic

That's true, according to notes I've been taking on the hammer spur change, the longer spur came somewhere between 10351 and 10777. Still trying to narrow it down a bit more.
That is an interesting case, for sure. Haven't seen one like that before.Â
 to the
and thanks for showing off your great looking .44 & case!
