Just acquired my first DW 15.  No, not new to Dans I had a 22 brother had a 44 and I sold many in my old gun store. I am attaching a photo of this Dan and barrels (selling barrels) it's hard to believe but some nut never fired any of these. Just setting in a safe.

Sweet idea those plastic accordion thread protectors. I received a barrel from midway usa with a full length one on for protection during shipping. If I still have it I'll have to make some.

They also keep the barrel from falling out of the shroud when you pick them up.

Welcome to the forum, nice Dan.  The non vent heavy is a desirable shroud style to own, enjoy it.

You got me wondering so went and checked mine the barrels don't fall out of the shroud after you put the nut on. Do some barrels slide right through the shroud? Both of my shrouds have a slightly smaller I.D. just inward of the rear of the shroud that the barrel frame threads wont pass through.

That's large frames only.  On the small frames it's easy to dump a barrel out of a shroud.
