Hi, I have been a casual handgun enthusiast for many years with boating admittedly being my primary passge.

However, I really enjoy going to the range with a variety of handguns. Although I have several .38 revolvers, I had been eyeing a nice DW revolver for a good while.

Recently, I acquired a 15-2 in new condition. I figure with a 238xxx serial number it is about 1980 vintage? I believe it has never been fired with the original shipping box, leather zippered case, yellow cylinder dust shield, paperwork and tool.

I was looking for a shooter, not a collectible so later this week I will post in the revolver forum with some pictures to get some opinions. It is a beautiful gun though! Anyway, I'm glad to be part of this forum and a DW owner. Thanks.

Welcome from Central Florida too. Congratulations on snagging a beauty. There are a lot more unfired Pythons than there are Dan Wessons. I saw that one on Gunbroker I think. Box and softcase? Good deal. I would get a shooter or a used pistol pack and keep the one you have as a safe queen. Other folk would shoot it. What ever you do, don't let the cylinder close with the ejector rod extended . That is how scratches get on the sideplate. It usually happens the first time someone handles or shoots the gun. Keep the gun tilted to the left and your fingers on your left hand pushing against the cylinder through the frame while reloading. That does not happen with Smiths and Colts because they have the cylinder release on the sideplate that protects it.

Welcome from another avid boater and Dan Wesson lover!  Two pass times that are addictive and not cheap 🙂  But worth it!

BTW what type of boating, cruising, fishing, water sports or a combination?

I haven't been on here much due to work and boating but our season is now over and boat is on the hard for the winter in PA, now tome to get the Dan's out to play.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
