Hello from Central PA,

What great info about great firearms.  I have been lurking and reading for a few years when I fist picked up a 6" 22LR Dan Wesson Revolver.  I am now in the process of finalizing the purchase of a .357 pistol pack that has full under lug barrels of 4",6".8" and a 12" barrel.  The 12" does not have a full under lug.  It is in the original Dan Wesson Case with a key to lock the case, 4 replacement sights and the cylinder gap gauge.  No Belt buckle, no patch, no papers and no 2" barrel.  The bluing on the gun is excellent and the only issue is a very slight blemish on the right side of the rear sight.  The barrels were super dirty and I gave them a good cleaning, all shined up well, the 6" barrel seems to have a slight bit of pitting or flaw in the rifling.  I am also going to need to buy a shroud locator pin as the receiver of the pistol has none.  Seems like an easy fix.

I understand it is hard to pinpoint a year of manufacture can anyone help if I post some serial #??

Thanks

Welcome!!!! Sounds like you have some nice looking Dan's. Post some pics, we all like to see photos. The serial number would help to identify the year of manufacture, Great that you have a 12" barrel assembly to go along with the 357 occasion, you should be able to pick-up the an 2" assembly on Ebay or GB if you want. and again dwf-welcomepost-pics

Okay thanks.  Yeah the 12" barrel is what made me say yes to the purchase.  Have always wanted a pistol pack.  The serial # is 2997xx

I will try to post pics as Attachments?? IMG_1132.JPGImage Enlarger

Thanks for the info and the warm welcome.  Another fellow named Ron from Western PA helped me over on the PA Firearms Owners Association forums to find the replacement shroud locator pin on-line at Numrich.  I can't wait to get that pin so I can fire this bad ass 12" barrel.  I also want to shot the 6" so I can see if accuracy is affected by small pitting/flaw in the rifling.  Actually I want to shoot them all.  Good thing I have been reloading a bunch of .38 specials lately.  I am just south of Harrisburg along the Susquehanna.  I am buying this pack from a guy who bought it a few years back off another guy that was hit hard by a bad flood we had a few years back and needed some $$$.  The guy I am buying from is NOT a firearms enthusiast and this gun was never cleaned while he owned it for several years.  I have no other history or knowledge of where this pack came from or what happened to the 2" barrel or where the 12" came from.

Any tips on how to replace the shroud locator pin??

I think the pins are just roll pins.  If the old one is missing, you should be able to tap the new one into place with a small hammer/mallet.

I didn't even notice this on the side of the case until today.  Black ink CDB V5 Any idea??  Any idea what the red ink number means?  It does NOT match the serial # on the firearm.    IMG_1145.JPGImage Enlarger

Possibly a non original box.  The red number looks like a serial #.  Not the first time I've seen a gun in a non matching box.

I graduated from high school in Langhorne, PA near Philly. I have since literally travelled the world and retired in Tennessee...from whence, I bid you welcome.
