And I found a few at the gun show no less 🙂  The Denver gun show was PACKED with buyers to the point is was hard to get down an aisle.  I couldn't even look at long-guns because it was a wall of people, so my focus was on the tables.  There were five model 15's, all beaters and WAY overpriced.  I usually never even see a DW at the shows around here.

Then I spied the tip of a barrel between the bodies, and no kidding it took me about two minutes to wiggle my way to the table.  There in front of me was a SS beauty 741 🙂  No box, no tools, and the barrel was loose... BUT, I swear it is unfired.  I bought it so quick I didn't even notice the little engraved section "First Issue 56" on the shroud.  Here she is-

I'm VERY happy with this purchase, and still can't believe the condition it is in.  As I continued to walk around waiting for the background check to clear I found a lonely 715 in nice condition.  I asked the guy for his best out the door--no BS price.  I got it for $370 which is no GTDW, but a very good deal in my area.  The grips feel "weird"... I swear they are powerwood, but the insides look like real wood.  Maybe it is the finish on the grips...I don't know...

The only downside was when I got home I could not get the shroud off--I won't go into the next two hours of labor, but I ended up getting it off without any damage.

Perhaps the best find at the show was the cheapest... a measly $1 🙂  As I was digging through the $1 bargain bin from a vendor I found a very dusty but still new blue 357SM wrench with the covers!  Percentage wise that is GTDW!

I cannot disagree with you, but it's not getting any easier.  However, I was able to add this to my collection today.  The only problem is I do not know whether to use it as a crutch or for self defense (it would be great for pistol-whipping assailants into submission).Big Grin

I had to choose between this .357 Magnum long barrel or the 32-20 and the 32-20 lost, especially since it went for over a grand which was way more than I was willing to spend on it.

Shoot, I went to a show this weekend and not one Dan to be found.  I did get 5000 CCI large pistol magnum primers for $120.00.  They are getting scarce as hen's teeth for a reasonable price.  Nice buys.

Yep, I finally broke out of the "Monson mold" 🙂  In over 20 years of DW's I never had one that wasn't a Monson.  Fit and finsih on the 41 is better than I expected.  I REALLY want to polish this one, but the "laser" etching or whatever it is on the frame is actually above the surface.

CCI's, or any primers? I don't reload, but every place I vist in this area has primers in pretty good quantity. I know i always see large/small rifle at least, generally pistol as well.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Excellent score, SHOOT Worship

If your looking for a Glock, AR15, 1911, cheep Chinese scopes, knives made from old car lief springs or crappy jewelry, then the Houston area guns shows are for you.  Usually the only Dan Wessons that pop up are model 15s, and at rare times a model 44.  I guess there just were not enough Dan Wesson dealers back in the day, in south east Texas.

GG, Congratulations!  I had a 15" for a while.  You may have to reload to get most out of that long barrel.

Shoot, I have a NIB Norwich First Issue 741 myself numbered 127.  Mine has a V5 barrel and shroud.  If you remove the grip you will see the first issue logo on the frame as well.

Nice find guys!

OK, as soon as I get home I'm pulling the grip !  I'd like to get a nice set of wood for this one anyway.

I agree.  I was under the impression that these barrels came with the button due to their length, but this one neither has a button, nor is it drilled and tapper for one.  CF is right...the length is rather comical.

It's funny that you mention reloading.  I've poked around the Internet for reloading information for this barrel length, but I have found nothing but standard reloading information.  I did read somewhere that you actually loose performance (velocity) with such a long barrel.  Is this true?  Also, if you are willing to share, what would be your overall recommendations for reloading using this barrel length?

It's the block at the bottom of your post with a cool pic or a favorite phrase. You set it up in your profile IIRC.
