OfflineAround Christmas, I posted about my new DW Bruin 10mm. It was kind of an impulse buy - just wanted to see what the 10mm fuss is all about.
Well, I've long wanted to try taking a hog with a handgun, and this afternoon the opportunity presented itself:
Took this 140 lb sow. Not a long shot, at only a little over 20 yards, but she was running, so I was pleased with the head shot. First time I've hunted with a pistol.
There's a lot of good pork there, and the Bruin was certainly up to the task! I fully intend to hunt pigs with it again.
Regards,
Jim

I may have to try a Bruin!  Been hunting hogs with the SuperMag for 2-3 years now ÂÂ
I've been intending for about 40 years to hunt pigs with my 8" M44, but just never did get around to it. I've taken plenty of hogs with a .30-30, but this one is the first with a handgun. I've had the Bruin for 4 months, and it's already bagged me a pig! It is one fine pistol!

Jim

As I type this, the backstrap is cooking. "Range" report to follow!

Well, I misspoke! Mrs. kW3 decided not to cook the pork on Friday after all. She baked the backstrap with some light seasoning for dinner yesterday.ÂÂ
I figured that the sow would be good eating, due to the (relatively) small size, and the time of year. I was right! It was outstanding! No trace of "gamey" smell or taste at all.
BIL and I are planning our next hunt, but it probably won't be until Fall.

Jim
